Here’s a squid girl themed Sega Genesis… wait, wha…?
Jul 28th
You know, when I started working for Sega Addicts back in May, I thought I would be writing a lot about Sonic and Dreamcast nostalgia and the like. But no, I am writing a post about a squid girl themed Sega Genesis. So, apparently there is an Anime out there called ‘Shinryaku! Ika Musume’, which translates to ‘Invader! Squid Girl’, where a parody of the Sega Genesis is sometimes seen. It’s called the ‘Iku drive’ mady by ‘Geso’. So, somebody actually took his Japanese Sega Mega Drive and gave it a paint job. For more screens, head over to the source!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to find that Anime somewhere and watch it…

No Rise of Nightmares and House of the Dead Overkill: Extended Cut for Germany
Jul 28th
According to Gamefront.de, Sega has announced that Rise of Nightmare and House of the Dead Overkill: Extended cut will not be released in Germany. This isn’t really surprising, since Sega already chose to not release the Wii version of the latter one either. Sega gave no comment on why they did this, but it’s pretty safe to assume that both games would be banned if they were to be released in Germany.
Sega is having a 48-Hour Appstore sale!
Jul 28th
Sega just has announced via it’s Twitter account that they are holding a 48-hours sale on the Apple Appstore! Most games are 80% off during that period. This inlcudes the new and pretty good ‘Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing’, ‘Shinobi 3′ and both Super Monky Ball games! Those are some excellent games for a great price, so go get them for your iDevices!

Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics gets release dates, yellow box
Jul 28th
Well, that certainly is… interesting? Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics is the first and probably only game on the Wii that will get a Yellow box. Why? I guess in order to be unique? Anyway, the game is heading to the Wii on November 15 in NA and on November 18 in Europe. The 3DS version on the other hand will arrive in February.
Sega certainly has one of the last big Wii titles on it’s hand here and I’m pretty sure it will be a reasonable success! For more screens head over to Joystiq!
Stephen Frost talks about Sega of Japan’s involvement in Shinobi 3DS
Jul 28th
Siliconera has posted an interesting interview with Stephen Frost, the producer behind Shinobi 3DS. He talks a lot about the gameplay and how the whole system works, but also describes how the team works together with Sega of Japan:
They look through, they give feedback, and they comment on our decisions and stuff like that. From the get-go, they’ve been very supportive and very excited. Fundamentally, Shinobi has been a Japanese franchise, but they’re excited to see a North American version of it, not just for the American audience but also for the Japanese audience who is looking for a fresh take on the stuff they’ve been playing for a while.
It’s good to see that they work together so closeley, ensuring that the game feels like it belongs to the Shinobi franchise. Head over to Siliconera for more details!
Sega shuts down some online servers in Japan!
Jul 27th
According to Siliconera the Japanese Servers for some Shiren the Wanderer games will be shut down. The Wii game Mystical Dungeon: Shiren the wanderer and the two DS games Shiren the wanderer 2 and 3 will have no online features starting this November. The fourth game will be uneffected, since Sega had no hand in the development of that title. It’s also unclear up until now whether or not this would also affect other regions.
