UPDATE: Sega released an official statement on their partnership with Nintendo. The statement can be read in full after the jump.

Sonic Lost World will be a Nintendo Wii U and 3DS exclusive title, according to today’s Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo announced today that they have started a worldwide partnership with Sega and that more Wii U and 3DS exclusive Sonic games are on the way.

The only details Nintendo gave on Sonic Lost World is that it will be an “action adventure” game. The above screen shot was also shown. We’ll have to wait until E3 2013 for more details.

Hit the jump to see the screenshot in full and be sure to leave speculative comments in the section below!

SEGA® of America Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced details of an exclusive partnership with Nintendo of America Inc. and Nintendo of Europe GmbH for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The new agreement will make Nintendo consoles the number one destination for Sonic gaming over the next three titles. The first two titles of the deal were announced today via Nintendo Direct, and details of the third Sonic title will be revealed at a later date.

“Sonic the Hedgehog has performed incredibly well on Nintendo platforms and this exclusive partnership is a natural fit for the next evolution of Sonic games” commented Jurgen Post COO SEGA Europe Ltd. “The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are ideal platforms to showcase Sonic and we are looking forward to working with Nintendo on these three exciting adventures.”

Sonic the Hedgehog first appeared as a videogame character in June 1991 and instantly became an icon for a generation of gamers. Defined by his super-fast speed and cool attitude, in the years since he first raced on to videogame consoles Sonic has become a true global phenomenon with over 75 million videogames and smartphone apps sold worldwide. SEGA’s iconic blue blur has also gone on to enjoy incredible success in many licensed areas, such as toys, apparel, comics and animation.

That’s right, I said “Sonic 1 version 2.0″. No, I don’t mean that Sonic 2 is coming to iOS and Android, so stop asking. No! Sonic 3 & Knuckles isn’t coming either!

Security! Get these Sonic fans out of my office!

It seems not even Sega were happy with their rubbish attempt to port the original Sonic the Hedgehog to iOS. After lone gunman Christian Whitehead showed Sega how to make Sonic ports with Sonic CD, his expertise was put to use in upgrading Sonic 1.

Apparently, this new version looks better, sounds better and plays better than the first version and, as can be seen in the trailer above, includes Tails and Knuckles as playable characters for the first time! Wowzers!

Go to iTunes/ Google Play. Buy or update game. Play game. Leave comment below.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will be available to European and North American customers this autumn for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

We pretty much knew that the third iteration in the Dead or Alive 5 fighting series was coming our way after Famitsu spilt the beans. The upgraded version will contain currently undisclosed characters and features not found in previous versions and will contain all of the extra content from Dead or Alive 5 Plus for the PlayStation Vita. So far, all we know is that a pair of custard filled breasts named Momiji from Ninja Gaiden will be playable.

It’s a new year, and with it comes a new Sonic game right? I’m honestly still riding the coattails of Sonic & Danica Patrick go to the beach Transformed, so these announcements can take their time in my opinion. Anyway, Sega filed a trademark in Europe for something called “Sonic Lost World.” Shall we let the Sonic Cycle begin? Though I’m confident Sonic Generations put the Sonic Cycle to rest, we can always find ways to get excited over the slightest bit of news. Maybe Sonic Lost World is Josh Newey’s secret fan project to finally incorporate his love for Jurassic Park and Sega into one behemoth of a game? Maybe it’s another Chao-related adventure? Maybe you can hit the jump to see the fancy trademark?

So there you have it! Jurassic Park jokes aside, I’m always excited to hear about a new Sonic game since they have been progressively getting better after Sonic Colors. I’m pretty sure most people simply want Sonic Generations 2, but let’s hope this one adapts what worked with Sonic Generations. Who else is excited?

Sonic Dash recently received a huge patch for iOS which added a whole load of new content, including new power-ups and missions. What it didn’t openly mention is that it also added Shadow’s textures and model to the game.

That mess of colours above? Yep, that’s a crop of a texture map for Shadow. Discovered by Woun over at Russian fansite Sonic Scene, the files were found in the iPad 3 & 4 hi-res texture pack. Although currently unplayable, an upcoming patch from Hardlight to unveil the character is almost certain.

If you haven’t already played Sonic Dash, the game recently went free to play and comes well recommended from us.
I have no shame in admitting I’m a big fan of the OC Remix themed albums, as they are on a constant loop in my playlists. From the preview above, it looks like another album is about to be added to my library. Combining 25 remixes from 30 different artists, Temporal Duality is themed after Sonic CD, and covers both the international and North American soundtracks. The video above sums up the album best, along with the fact that it will release sometime this year. Keep your eyes here for when the album lands on the internet. Any particular track that you enjoyed? I’m a fan of the Sonic Boom (Instrumental Reprise) near the end.

We’re near the end of our long Acclaim on Sega podcast series and to celebrate each podcast co-host and selected their favorite Acclaim game to be given away for this contest.

The four games will be: Maximum Carnage (Genesis), Bust-A-Move 2 (Saturn), D (Saturn) and Shadow Man (Dreamcast). The winner will win all four of theses games. No guarantees that every game will come with a complete box and manual as it will depend on what the going prices will be.

To enter the contest you can choose any Acclaim game that has appeared on a Sega console and design cover art for a non-existent sequel to that game for any console of your choice. For example, you could design a Battle Monsters 2 Dreamcast cover or even go to modern consoles and design a cover for D3 on the PS3 or WiiU.

So, get creating those covers and post them in the comments below by May 16th!
