“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, goes the old adage. This is certainly the case for Sega Pluto owner Roger Vega a.k.a. Kidvid666. His $1 purchase of the rare, prototype console at a flea market has put him in the focus of retro gaming enthusiasts around the globe. Of course, it was only until recently that Roger realized the significance of his…

I suppose it only makes sense that one of the most disturbing games in history managed to yield the most freakishly upsetting promotional material I have ever seen. When Sega gave us the awesome nightmare fuel that is Seaman more than a decade ago, they apparently also saw fit to unleash a faux vacuum-packed can of humanoid…

On this week’s podcast, Tom makes his grand return and brings free chocolates for everyone! Unfortunately, they’ve been in his pocket since his trip back from Utah so they’re all a giant melted mess filled with chucks of dryer lint, change and old receipts. We all politely declined. It didn’t hurt his feelings though as…

The long-awaited Dreamcast shoot-em-up, Sturmwind, is now available for purchase, and a new launch trailer has been revealed to celebrate the release. And it looks gorgeous. Developed by Duranik and published by RedSpotGames, Sturmwind is the first original Dreamcast title since 2009′s Rush Rush Rally Racing and Irides: Master of Blocks. There was worry about the…

Remember the unreleased Sega Pluto prototype console we uncovered a few days ago? Sure you do. But do you remember how we said that the one other Sega Pluto known to exist was currently MIA? Not anymore. After seeing the story over on Destructoid, a regular reader realised that the peculiar Sega Saturn he had…

The Sega Pluto, Sega’s unreleased prototype console, was a huge revelation when it surfaced yesterday after roughly 15 years in hiding. Those who read yesterday’s story will remember former Sega employee Super Magnetic mentioning the extreme weight of the console. Well, it turns out he might have exaggerated a bit. After weighing the console himself he found…

A former Sega console engineer has shown off a previously unheard of prototype console named the Sega Pluto. The machine, pictured above, is a Sega Saturn with a built in NetLink 28.8k dial-up modem module allowing for online play. It’s fully functional and is also a region locked, USA NTSC model. The Sega Pluto is…

There’s no doubt that a lot of us still have our Dreamcasts set up, but as much as we can replay Jet Set Radio to our heart’s content, it’s rare that we get something new to get excited about. Sadly, excitement doesn’t necessarily mean revenue and KTX Software Dev are disappointed to have pulled their Kickstarter…

Those lucky enough to go to this year’s Games Developers Conference 2013 will have probably spent some some time in the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment’s Game History Exhibit where Sega had a very hearty presence. Consoles that were available to play included the Genesis, 32X, Sega CD, Game Gear, Nomad and more. If that wasn’t enough, Sega…

Why oh why can’t they have artwork like this for practically every game that comes out that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
I suppose I’ve just answered my own question as most modern shooters of any kind DO take themselves too seriously.
It’s time for Smash TV II, gentlemen.

I agree completely, Michael. The only games that have amazing artwork are RPG’s now a days, and that artwork is only included if you get an overpriced special edition with an artbook.

Are you implying that you’re going to buy this game for me? *winkwinknudgenudge*
