I don’t have enough room for all these new Sonic toys

The Sonic Stadium has written an extensive article highlighting all the Sonic toys and merchandise that was featured at recent toy fairs in New York and Nuremberg. It looks like there’s going to be no shortage of things to buy for Sega and Sonic fans this year with several manufacturers developing new products for us to waste money on.
There’s all kinds of the usual Sonic figurines, models and plushes ranging from classic and modern Sonic to the comic universe, Sonic and the Black Knight and even All-Stars Racing Transformed related models and vehicles from Jazware. Then there’s more unique merchandise like a giant glowing ring, a boombox, small capsule toys, headphones, walkie talkies, masks, *deep breath* Roller Racers(?) and even Sonic Chess, which sounds pretty cool and would go nicely with my Sonic Monopoly board game.
So, anyone interested in any of this? Do you currently own some Sonic merchandise?

Sonic chess magazine cancelled

You may remember, quite a while ago actually that there were plans for a Sonic chess set, to be collected through various issues of a magazine series. Well unfortunately, the series has been cancelled. Revealed in a letter to early subscribers they “had to cease publication of Sonic the Hedgehog Chess Set Collection.” They didn’t reveal more than that however as it was “due to circumstances beyond our control.”
Subscribers shouldn’t worry though as each of them was sent a free LED keyring, free of charge. Yay. Well at least there’s that. And who knows, maybe some day far off in the future we might get something similar to this. Maybe.

Sonic chess set magazine rolls onto store shelves

You know those magazine things companies often fart out so you can collect each issue to eventually get a set of something? Well the Sonic franchise now has one of those, in the form of a collectable chess set. The magazine is only available in the UK and Ireland at the moment, so sorry US Sega fans. No chess for you. The first issue is around £2 while the upcoming one’s will be £7 a piece. You can subscribe on it’s website for each issue. It seems you can also get some cool trinkets with each subscription.
Personally I think this is a weird choice for a collectable magazine series, but I guess it would also be good to have your own chess set, granted that you spent so much money to get the full thing.
