Sega Addicts Podcast: Episode 128 – Acclaim on Sega Part 14
May 3rd

On this week’s podcast, Tom makes his grand return and brings free chocolates for everyone! Unfortunately, they’ve been in his pocket since his trip back from Utah so they’re all a giant melted mess filled with chucks of dryer lint, change and old receipts. We all politely declined.
It didn’t hurt his feelings though as he was in high spirits as we went on to talk about Sega and some Acclaim goodness for nearly an hour! We even finally made it to Shadow Man on the Sega Dreamcast, but don’t worry listener, as we still have a couple Acclaim on Sega episodes to go.

Darkstalkers delayed
Nov 29th
A game that all good Sega Addicts should be excited about, Darkstalkers Resurrection, has been delayed. According to Capcom Japan, Street Fighter’s awesome cousin will not be hitting XBLA and PSN until March. There is some good news here, though. One of the reasons cited was quality control on the online component. Since Capcom’s ‘ship it then patch it’ approach to online play these last few years has been incredibly annoying, this might be a sign that they are learning.

Project X Zone to include enemy characters from Valkyria Chronicles, Sakura Wars
Aug 29th
That’s right–time again for another frustrating news story about the massive crossover game you will never get to play! We’ve been drowned in wave after wave of awesomely obscure character announcements for months now, but if you thought the reveals would end at the game’s crazy roster of heroes, well, think again!
Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has revealed a group of enemies that players will be facing in this epic RPG. In addition to a handful of original foes created for the game, Project X Zone will include Ciseaux and Prelude of Sakura Wars, Lord Raptor of Darkstalkers, Selvaria Bles of Valkyria Chronicles, and Vava of Mega Man X.
While I’m ashamed to admit that I have not gotten to try either Sakura Wars or Valkyria Chronicles, I’m still delighted to see such deep and obscure characters referenced, even on the enemy’s side. I just hope the antagonist reveals don’t stop there. Give me some Lan Di!

Resonance of Fate team confirmed for Project X Zone
Apr 24th
Cue me finally becoming interested in this game. This week’s copy of Famitsu reveals six new characters for the Project X Zone crossover RPG. Dead Rising’s Frank West and Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers join the fray from the Capcom side, Alisa and Soma from Namco’s God Eater are in, and from the Sega side, Zephyr and Leanne/Reanbell from Resonance of Fate have been added.
I wasn’t too interested in this for awhile, especially after seeing who’s representing my beloved Tekken. But after this news, being such a huge fan of RoF, I’ve done a complete 180 on it. I’m ridiculously happy to see Sega hasn’t completely forgotten the cult RPG. Do any of these new additions interest you? Tell us in the comments.

Darkstalkers 3 is coming to PSN this week
Apr 23rd
Darkstalkers 3, which came out in 1997 for PlayStation One and the Sega Saturn, will have a PSN re-release as a PSOne classic title this week. The first Darkstalkers was released end of November last year on the very same service and got quite some attention and praise. Ever since then, new rumours about a possible Darkstalkers 4 have been popping up. Recently, a new trademark file for Darkstalkers has appeared out of nowhere. Maybe these re-releases show that Capcom is testing the water for a reboot?

Rumour: Darkstalkers 4 in development
Mar 4th
According to a rumor over at Venturebeat, a fourth Darkstalkers game is currently in development. According to the site, Yoshinoro Ono, who is heading the development of both Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter x Tekken will be the producer for this anticipated sequel too.
I don’t know about you, but this would be amazing if it was true. I know some people here at Sega-Addicts feel the same about a potential sequel…
