Freedom Planet quintupled its Kickstarter goal
Jan 24th
… and it still has 3 weeks to go before the Kickstarter ends on February 14th! This really is amazing though, considering the creators were only debating whether or not to use Kickstarter not too long ago. Due to the amazing surpassing of their goal, the game’s creators at Galaxy Trail have added to the Kickstarter incentives to go as far as the ability to help them design NPC’s, enemies, and even an entire boss in the game. With the extra money they have earned, Galaxy Trail will be hiring more programers, and adding to their advertising costs. They have also added some fun things such as animated cutscenes to the game, and an additional playable character. The next inscentive at the $20,000 mark will be some Let’s Play videos done by the voice actors while in character! How cool is this team? If you haven’t done so, please support an awesome game in the making as it mixes great things from Sonic the Hedgehog, Rocket Knight, and even some Gunstar Heroes attributes.

With it’s success comes a huge library of games in all genres with many being worth tracking down for any videogame fan. This week we’ve created a list of some of the best and most notable games on the system, but with a system like this with so many amazing games make sure and watch for some future Genesis specific lists in the future.

Sega Addicts Podcast: Episode 86 – Who’s the Boss?
Mar 16th
This week’s podcast focuses on those enemies you fight at the end of levels in games that have more HP and do more damage than the regular enemies. Sometimes they have a weakspot that glows and sometimes you just have to successfully complete a QTE to rip their heads off and throw it in a blender.
In addition to all the boss talk, we also discuss a little Yakuza: Dead Souls, some great Sega news, and the release of Game Gear games on the 3DS.

Retro Review: Gunstar Heroes
Jan 6th
It’s that time again! Sometimes I think I’ve done a few too many of these, and then I remember a game I haven’t had a chance to honour yet. Today’s lucky remembered is Treasure’s Gunstar Heroes, which is one of the finest two-player games on the entire Mega Drive (It is not -the- best, because Toejam and Earl exists).
Gunstar Heroes is out now for the iPhone
Nov 24th
You like Gunstar Heroes? You want to play it everywhere you go? Have you got £1.79 burning a whole in your pocket? Well if all of those apply to you and you have an iPhone then you’re in luck! That’s right, the great shoot em up from the old school Mega Drive day’s is back to make you cry in frustration and joy all over again. So go and buy that now.
Personally I don’t know how the controls would handle as the touchscreen isn’t always the best system for playing retro ports. But what do you think? Can you ignore this if it means you get to experience the joy of dying in a haze of bullets and action over and over again, while on a bus? Tell me in the comments!
