WHO’S IDEA WAS IT TO MAKE BAYONETTA A WII U EXCLUSIVE?
Bayonetta 2‘s WiiU exclusivity was Platinum Games’ only choice, as tweeted by Hideki Kamiya. Personally, the idea that people are still getting to grips with this is absolutely mind boggling. Hideki Kamiya would prefer a Viewtiful Joe sequel over Bayonetta 2

Hideki Kamiya, director for both the Viewtiful Joe series (excluding Red Hot Rumble) and Bayonetta, was asked by popular Japanese magazine Famitsu which of two series he would prefer to work on if a sequel were ever to come about. His answer: Viewtiful Joe. This is not to say that Kamiya has no interest in dusting off the old skin-tight hair-suit for a Bayonetta sequel or spin-off, and often discusses it with the Bayonetta producer over beers.
I’m a big Viewtiful Joe fan myself and can obviously see Kamiya’s attraction to the series as a designer/ director. It’s simplistic yet engrossing 2D gameplay and sorely missed cell-shaded graphical style is something this generation of gaming could really do with. The fact that Kamiya still has Bayonetta on his mind is only a good thing after the rumours some time ago of a planned but cancelled sequel.

Bayonetta sequel hinted and retracted

OK this story is just odd. First of all when responding to a fan’s tweet about a possible Bayonetta sequel, Platinum Games founder Hideki Kamiya replied with: “This week… in a game magazine…” That’s right according to a translation he just hinted at a Bayonetta 2. Awesome! Can’t wait! Well I couldn’t until Platnum Games producer Atsushi Inaba, responded with another tweet stating that “There is no such announcement!”
So it seems like our hopes were dashed almost as soon as they were raised. But could this be the end of the story? In the past Hideki Kamiya has commented on his hopes for a sequel, but could it already be in development? What do you think? Is this the last we’ve heard of Bayonetta or will be indeed see something this week about a sequel? Let me know what you think in the comments!

Hideki Kamiya believes there will be a Bayonetta sequel

Hideki Kamiya (the director of Bayonetta) has recently hinted at a Bayonetta sequel. When asked by a fan if there will ever be a Bayonetta 2, he replied in English: “I believe so.” But that’s not all! He also tweeted to a different person, “She’ll [Bayonetta] be back if you believe so.”
So what could this mean? Could we be seeing our favourite witch in another action game sometime soon? Probably. But as always we’ll have to wait and see until Sega makes a decision. Let’s just hope they make it soon.
