Sega Studios Australia closes its doors
Apr 7th
Sega Studios Australia has unfortunately been slated to shut down. The news was broken in a post on Kotaku where Sega explained that the studio will be closed “later this year”. The development team had previously made Medieval 2: Total War as a division of The Creative Assembly and has since completed the London Olympics tie-in game.
Last year Sega Studios Australia laid off 37 employees before starting on a “multi-product deal focussing across the digital marketplace.” No word on what has happened to this deal yet but at the time of writing nothing has been confirmed. However my heart goes out to all the workers made redundant by this decision, and I really hope this worrying trend stops immediately. We’ll update you with more as this story progresses.

Sega’s other Olympics game has a launch trailer
Jul 9th
OK hands up. Who forgot this game existed?
Well to be fair on you, Sega’s more interesting Olympic title was already released a while back, so it’s pretty hard to get excited over a ‘normal’ videogame adaptation of these events. Either way a launch trailer was released to commemorate the official Olympic videogame release. You can watch the trailer above in all it’s patriotic glory.
