New Details on Homebrew SG-1000 Game Astrododge
Nov 16th
Matijn Wenting of Revival Studios has provided us with some further details on his ambitious homebrew game titled Astrododge for Sega’s very first home console, the incredibly rare, Japan only SG-1000.
Mr. Wenting has confirmed that the game will have the following features:
- Single player and 2-player versus mode
- Multicoloured graphics
- Internet highscore uploading
- Online rewards (achievements/trophies) displayed on an in game screen
The talented developer, who has previously created works for the Vectrex, Sinclair ZX-81, Videopac/Magnavox Odyssey 2 and more, has also informed us that, being his first SG-1000 game, it will act as a stepping stone to more new games in 2013.
Martijn has also told us that managing the physical production of Astrododge‘s cartridges and cases has been somewhat difficult, due to there being no physical SG-1000 homebrew releases in the past to use as reference points.
With regards to the version of Astrododge for Sega’s SC-3000, Martijn’s only comment was that a version ‘tailored’ to the rare Japanese home computer will be released in early 2013. Trailers for both games will debut at the upcoming Classic Games event held in Lier, Belgium.
An unmodified form of the above Astrododge screen shot from the SG-1000 version can be found after the jump, and be sure to leave us a comment while you’re down there!
Rumour: Project X Zone European Release Confirmed
Nov 16th
The announcement that Project X Zone, along with a a host of other 3DS games, are going to be published in Europe was allegedly made during a Spanish press event, according to a report by TSSZ News.
With only the picture above and no actual sources however, the legitimacy of the claim is questionable. This being said, I’m absolutely, positively brimming with excitement at the prospect of having a localised version of the Sega, Capcom, Namco Bandai crossover RPG coming to the many shores of Europe. It is also fair to speculate, assuming this news is true, that a North American release would also be in the works. If this does indeed comes to pass, then we may just have Katsuhiro Harada to thank for it after all.
Hit the jump for the uncropped version of the image above, and let us know what you think of this rumour in the comments below.
The Sega Addicts Kids Table: Episode 52 – Three Angry Men
Nov 15th
Well I hope you hate Shadow the Hedgehog as much as we do if you listen to this episode of The Sega Addicts Kids Table. Mostly because god damn does he fucking suck, but also because Stevie, John, and Josh spend a considerable amount of time moaning about him and the popularity of Sonic Adventure 2.
But it’s not all useless rage as they also discuss the Toejam and Earl Vintage Collection, Anarchy Reign‘s exclusive day one content, and Sega’s future plans for Sonic. And Shadow hate. Because really he deserves it. Seriously fuck Shadow.
Or go to our iTunes and subscribe! You can review us too! Come on, it’s the least you could do after buying Sonic Adventure 2 HD…
Sega Tokio Tablet 2.0 now available
Nov 13th
Sega’s ‘Tokio’ range of electronics are made available as prizes on their amusement vending machines and currently include the Tokio Techbook 1.0 netbook as well as the newly announced Tokio Tablet 2.0. The tablet itself is seven inches big and runs the Android OS Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4.
I won’t lie, I didn’t even know there was a version 1.0 of the Sega Tokio Tablet. I had no idea that Sega had their own brand of netbooks and tablets at all. However, I have spotted one of Sega’s successful ‘Key Master’ amusement machines in the UK and will be sure to have a closer inspection of its contents the next time I see it…

Details of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed’s final version revealed
Nov 13th
A lucky individual who was able to buy a copy of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed before it’s official release has posted screen shots and other details of the game across the internet. Due to an error on the retailer’s part both the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game are confirmed to already be on sale at Clarksville’s in Toys ‘R’ Us, at Louisville, KY
The details include a new, yet to be announced, racer as well as the track listing for each of the five grand prix. Steve Lycett of Sumo Digital has confirmed the legitimacy of the screens and details with the following statement made on the official Sega forums:
He is leaking things that are in the game, so watch for spoilers. He hasn’t done some of the tracks justice however, one of which is of course Graveyard Gig, personally I think you’ll love it.
He bought the game fair and square. Toys R’ Us shouldn’t have broke the date, but that’s a SEGA thing. Avoid the spoilers if you don’t want to know!
All the spoilers including the screen shots can be found after the jump!

First 4 Figures teases Shadow statue
Nov 12th
First 4 Figures, a company that has made a couple of fairly premium (read: Expensive) Sonic the Hedgehog related statues, is teasing Shadow the Hedgehog. I don’t know much about the art of spending hundreds of dollars on statues of characters from games that I have spent hundreds of dollars on but my sources tell me this is a thing that people like. Speculation from Sonic Stadium might disappoint, though; Shadow is not expected to be released until late 2013.

Anarchy Reigns Day One Edition announced
Nov 9th
European gamers who place pre-orders on Sega’s multi-player brawler Anarchy Reigns will receive a ‘Day One Edition’ which has so far been revealed to contain three pieces of exclusive DLC. The first two are multiplayer modes named ‘Mad Survival’ and Dogfight’.
Mad Survival sees a select group of players fending themselves from wave after wave of opposing players while Dogfight has players dangle from helicopters while shooting each other down. Fun for the whole family!
The third piece of DLC will undoubtedly be the most attractive as it will unlock Bayonetta, the main character from the well received game Bayonetta, as a fully playable character. This Day One Edition has so far only been announced in Europe but it’s safe to assume that information on special editions for other territories are on the way.
With Anarchy Reigns‘ astonishingly low retail price there’s little reason to get the pre-order version. This being said I’m a little saddened to see Bayonetta as a pre-order exclusive character only. Sure, she may be released later as paid for DLC, but isn’t she worth being in the game proper? Let us know in the comments below!

The Sega Addicts Kids Table: Episode 51 – The Kids Ballot
Nov 8th
With America still on high from a recent intense election The Sega Addicts Kids Table have provided you with possibly an even more shocking political voting race. That’s right in this episode Stevie, John, and Josh return to the Kids Table to debate about who should win a fan poll on which Sega Addict to interview. They argue and moan and eventually even hatch a devious plan that’ll shake the political world to it’s core.
Along with this high-brow storyline they also talk about the majority of what they were playing in the podcast’s break, the Bayonetta 2 announcement and Anarchy Reign’s budget release. With a list of topics like that how can they fail to delight your ears once more with their wondrous videogame discussion? They can’t, so listen to it… or die!… or vote. It’s something along those lines.
Or go to our iTunes and subscribe! You can even review us if you want America to stay free!
And don’t forget to go to the Sega Addicts twitter to give us your answer for next week’s Newey Needs to Knowey! Which Sega character would make the best president and why? Send us your best answer and Josh will send the winner a sweet monster picture! Way cool!

The trailer above shows off some of the features that will appear in the upcoming ‘Guild Hall’ expansion for Sega’s free-to-play PC game Spiral Knights.
