Shadow models and textures found in new Sonic Dash update
May 15th
Sonic Dash recently received a huge patch for iOS which added a whole load of new content, including new power-ups and missions. What it didn’t openly mention is that it also added Shadow’s textures and model to the game.
That mess of colours above? Yep, that’s a crop of a texture map for Shadow. Discovered by Woun over at Russian fansite Sonic Scene, the files were found in the iPad 3 & 4 hi-res texture pack. Although currently unplayable, an upcoming patch from Hardlight to unveil the character is almost certain.
If you haven’t already played Sonic Dash, the game recently went free to play and comes well recommended from us. How do you think Shadow will play differently to Sonic?

Sonic mod for Dark Souls may be a glimpse into the future
May 13th
A Sonic mod has been released for the PC version of Dark Souls at NexusMods and it’s quite a looker. Rather than being based on the actual hedgehog we know and love, this mod takes a different approach and appears to skin your character as a 35 year old cosplayer at an upcoming Sonic convention.
Now, we just have to convince Sega that this is what we want for a next-gen Sonic game. Realistic and gritty visuals? Check. RPG elements? Check. Claws coming out of Sonic’s hands? Check. It’s perfect.
Any Dark Souls fans going to check out this mod? Is it everything you’ve hoped for in a Sonic game?

Insert Coin has new Sega based clothing in the works
Apr 21st
Not to sound like an ad here but insert coin is a pretty great videogame clothes store. The designs they have are subtle and never too in your face or pointlessly meme filled, which makes their new team-up with Sega pants jizzingly amazing.
They have had previous Sega inspired shirts on their site before but this upcoming range will introduce new awesome items such as several Sonic shirts and hoodies, a Space Channel 5 vest, and some bizarre Sonic leggings (viewable above). You can view the rest of the designs on their recent blog post here. Pretty awesome stuff per usual and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what this range looks like in cloth when they release these new designs later this year.

Sonic Athletics announced
Apr 20th
An odd new attraction took people by surprise as Tokyo Joypolis announced Sonic Athletics, set to open on April 25th.
In this attraction, up to 8 people can run on their own separate treadmills in a virtual, and physical, race to the finish. If you run the quickest, you win! In the game, you’ll be able to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Metal Sonic, Silver, and Blaze. Sega stated on the page that it will be open in Tokyo Joypolis on April 25th, which is this week!
I wish I could go to Japan to try this game out. What do you think of the game? Will you have access to it?

Jazwares adds new merch to Sonic toy line
Apr 8th
Toy company Jazwares has been producing a wide selection of Sonic merchandise for a while now and following on from their New York Toy Fair booth a couple months back it seems that they’re ready to unleash even more stuff for us to buy later this year. New announcements concerning transforming plushies (that change either Sonic or Shadow into their ‘super’ forms when turned insideout), a Rouge/Shadow comic book pack, and glowing chaos emerald accessories were recently shown by Russian fansite Sonic Characters, who dug up some very interesting fact sheets relating to the toy line.
If you fancy a look at the products revealed you can see these fact sheets after the jump. And if you like what you see why not let us know what your favorite toy is in the comments? It can’t hurt you to try!

Sega to fix Sonic 1 on iOS with free update
Mar 30th
It seems Sega isn’t happy with the way Sonic’s first outing have been represented on the app store, which is why they’re planning a huge update that’s set to fix the port’s issues for free. This new version is being reworked to play more like the extremely better Sonic CD port (because those controls actually worked) which will include a new engine, less visually intrusive buttons, and the ability to switch the spin attack off or on. This newer version of the game will also run at a smoother 60 frames per second and will feature bonus content in the guise of a box art gallery.
Honestly this needed to happen sooner. As much as I love Sonic this version was trash and I’m glad that Sega are now planning to up the quality as the app store has gained much more notoriety since 2009, when this poor port was released. Now wake me up when they fix Sonic 2 on iOS as well!

From the Vault! The Sonic 4: Episode 2 Lost Commentaries
Apr 22nd

Remember when we used to do commentaries here at Sega Addicts? No? Well an old writer Sven used to sit down and put together some footage and slap our horrible voices all over it. However one stormy night Sven left the site in the middle of our Sonic 4: Episode 2 commentary with Josh Newey, leaving the saga incomplete and empty.
…until now! As you can see above we finally have access to the lost videos for your enjoyment. Sonic 4: Episode 2 is no longer relevant though but if you don’t mind hearing us blabber on about weird nonsense (I haven’t watched this since) with a slightly rubbish videogame on in the background, then these lost treats are for you my friend. You can see the final part in this commentary after the jump, and if you’re new to these videos you can even check out Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3!
Who knows maybe one day we could even get this going again. Meh, that’ll probably never happen. Ever. Nope. Nada. No way… now hit the jump and stop thinking about that…
Oh and enjoy!
