Valkyria Chronicles 3 fan translation makes progress
Nov 9th
A group of fans sick of not being able to experience last years Japan only Valkyria Chronicles sequel have teamed up to patch the game with an English translation. As you can see from the video above a lot of progress has already been made, with lots of the main text already translated.
This patch will be downloadable via custom firmware on your PSP but non-hackers might want to hold off until the softmod becomes available. When ready this softmod will allow you to keep your PSP as it was, making the patch accessible with a custom firmware equipped memory card instead. The project itself seems to be running at a fast pace with only a few character limit problems in the way.
It’s great to know that whilst Sega may keep a bunch of their titles exclusive to Japan, the fans can still help each other out with projects like this. Good show, Valkyria Chronicles fans!

Valkyria Chronicles is Crunchyroll’s Deal of the Day
Oct 11th
If you’re still one of the holdouts waiting for a reasonable deal on Valkyria Chronicles, and you have a Crunchyroll Premium account, today’s your lucky day. For the next 14 hours as of this writing, the game is the site’s “Shinji’s Deal of the Day”, going for 24.99 for non-premium members, and 16.99 for those with a Premium account, brand new.
I think this is an absolutely fantastic deal as far as brand new copies go, and I’m definitely jumping on it. How bout you fellas?

UDON Entertainment announces Valkyria Chronicles 3 artbook
Sep 15th
Here’s a little treat to numb the pain for all those forlorn fans struggling with the harsh reality that we will likely never see another Valkyria Chronicles in the West: UDON Entertainment has announced Valkyria Chronicles 3: Complete Artworks, an artbook featuring the gorgeous work of illustrator Raita Honjou, with story summaries; character and design profiles; promotional art; and commentary and interviews with the creators. The book is scheduled to be released in December for $44.99, but can be pre-ordered on Amazon now for $29.69.
Would anybody be interested in picking this up? I imagine fans fall on both sides of the coin with this one–either furious that they’d dare to give us a book when we are being denied the Japan-only game, or elated and relieved to have something related to the series.
Hit the jump for a gallery of preview art from the book.

Project X Zone to include enemy characters from Valkyria Chronicles, Sakura Wars
Aug 29th
That’s right–time again for another frustrating news story about the massive crossover game you will never get to play! We’ve been drowned in wave after wave of awesomely obscure character announcements for months now, but if you thought the reveals would end at the game’s crazy roster of heroes, well, think again!
Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has revealed a group of enemies that players will be facing in this epic RPG. In addition to a handful of original foes created for the game, Project X Zone will include Ciseaux and Prelude of Sakura Wars, Lord Raptor of Darkstalkers, Selvaria Bles of Valkyria Chronicles, and Vava of Mega Man X.
While I’m ashamed to admit that I have not gotten to try either Sakura Wars or Valkyria Chronicles, I’m still delighted to see such deep and obscure characters referenced, even on the enemy’s side. I just hope the antagonist reveals don’t stop there. Give me some Lan Di!

New Humble Bundle includes Valkyria Chronicles tunes
Jul 28th
As a fan of indie games I love the Humble Indie Bundles. They’re a great way to play new games you wouldn’t have heard of, and you get to support charity whilst doing so. It then excites me to tell you that Sega is part of their newest bundle! Sort of. In the latest indie collection, (which is all about indie music), Wolfire games has locked down Hitoshi Sakimoto’s Valkria Chronicles compilation album which is included with the other tunes for the low price of whatever you would like to pay.
As always you can get the bundle here. For as much or as little as you like you can support videogame music and charity in one fell swoop. The other music in this bundle includes other nerd inspired music such as Jonathan Coulton and MC Frontalot. They Might Be Giants and Christopher Tin are also included, as well as OK Go if you pay above the current average.
Files come in both MP3s and FLAC, and the tracks are yours forever once paid. At the time of writing there is still 12 more days until the end of the bundle so you still have time to consider buying this. However if you are a Valkyria Chronicles fan then it should be a no brainer. The compilation album at whatever price you want to pay, plus other great bands too? I don’t think you’ll find a better deal on Earth. At least until the next bundle.

Valkyria Chronicles Duel set to launch on July 26th
Jul 23rd
Don’t get excited too soon because it’s worth noting that the Valkyria Chronicles franchise seems to have abandoned the West since sales proved lukewarm at best. However that doesn’t stop the franchise in Japan as the card based spin off Valkyria Chronicles Duel is due to launch in that territory through a browser based release on July 26th. Sega has also planned an Android release for the 30th with an iOS port following in August.
Screenshots have also been released which reveal a host of characters and gameplay elements. If you’re interested you can even check them out after the jump!

Sega trademarks “Valkyria Duel”
Apr 18th
A new trademark registered by Sega for a game titled “Valkyria Duel” has appeared on the trademark database in Japan. I think it’s safe to assume that this is something related to the Valkyria Chronicles series but what it is exactly is currently unknown.
My uneducated guess however is that it’s some sort of bundle release, possibly of Valkyria Chronicles 2 & 3 for the PSP. Sega has released other “duel packs” for PSP in the past so that could very well be the case. Regardless, I won’t get too excited until I hear the unlikely announcement that it’s coming to the West.

Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles makes it into Soul Calibur V
Feb 7th
Valkyria Chronicles is one of those Sega franchises that don’t always get the attention they deserve. Still, you can count on fans to do awesaome stuff with the franchise as we can see here. Soul Calibur 5 gives you a lot of possibilities to create your own characters and as soon as most people were done adding phallic objects pretty much everywhere, they started doing amazing things, which of course includes adding characters that come from different franchises. So, it doesn’t surprise me, that Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles also makes the jump. Now all we have to do is wait until Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and various other Sega characters are tossed in there and we have “Sega All-Stars brawl”. Trademarked!

This figure of Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles probably isn’t safe for work…
Nov 28th
Believe it or not, this is actually one of the more restrained photos of that figure. Anyway, this figure will be out in April 2012 and can be bought for ¥9,240 or US$119. I don’t know why, but my guess is it will sell rather well… Check out the source for more photos!
