Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons the worst game on XBLA?
May 10th
We had our suspicions over the Double Dragon II remake that appeared out of nowhere on XBLA. Sub-par graphics, a strange title and a horrifically broken product description all pointed to Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons being an absolute stinker.
Eurogamer have gone one step further in suggesting that Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons is in fact the worst game ever made for the Xbox 360. The above video showcases the game’s bad music, broken gameplay and the overall lack of effort that went into its development.
It’s certainly no Double Dragon Neon, but is it really worse the Aliens: Colonial Marines? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

Double Dragon 2 3D remake may make you cringe
Apr 16th
The game’s full title is, Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragon, and it has arrived on XBLA. When I first learned of the games existence I immediately thought it was a sequel to Way Forward’s amazing Double Dragon Neon. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and I realized it after reading the game’s description. Rather than trying to sum it up, I think it would be best to post it directly for all to enjoy:
This is a remake ‘Double Dragon II‘ a 80′s game. The story line takes same as original game story. However, the graphic, character, action, system etc. are change. Also we are including new stage and enemy in the game. The player will be addicted to new version of Double Dragon II. Also, characters are undressed from 80′s style, and recreated with modern sexy and beautiful style that amaze you and feel never been experienced world before.
Yeeeeeeeah buddy. So you may or not may not play as nudists. Let’s hope the game’s code was written better than that description. Has anyone had a chance to try it yet? I have the demo downloading as I type.

Hell Yeah! becomes part of XBLA sale
Apr 13th
Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit was released last September (yes it has gone that quick) for XBLA and if you still haven’t gotten around to trying it out then you may have an excuse to finally pick it up because it’s now cheap as chips! That’s right Arkedo’s action platformer goes on sale April 16th (Tuesday) as a part of XBLA’s recent sales bonanza and will be reduced to 480 MS points, 60% off the games original asking price.
Personally I always end up missing some smaller games, but I find sales are a great time to dip into an experience while it’s still slightly relevant again. The vastly cheaper price also helps. But enough about me, what about you? Will you be picking this up while it’s even more inexpensive? Have you even already played it? If so what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Sega are probably definitely remaking Castle of Illusion
Apr 11th
It was only a few days ago that brand new box art for an XBLA version of Castle of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse appeared on the internet. Suspicions of Sega putting out a full remake of the game in a similar vain to Capcom’s Duck Tales: Remastered, have practically been confirmed with Sega’s new teaser trailer.
While there’s nothing in the trailer that explicitly links the footage to Castle of Illusion, the end of the trailer shows that the contents are copyrighted by Disney. Someone has spent money on the trailer, as well as working up new box art instead of using the original artwork, which is more than Sega has done for their previous XBLA ports.
It’s pretty obvious that Sega, the masters of secrecy, are doing something with Castle of Illusion. But what? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Flashback HD remake coming later this year for XBLA and PSN
Apr 11th
The Sega Mega Drive/ Genesis classic Flashback will be completely remade in 3D and will be released on XBLA and PSN later this year. The game’s creator Paul Cuisset and his French development studio VectorCell have been working with publisher Ubisoft on the remake, which will feature completely overhauled 3D graphics, full voice acting, new gameplay sections and more.
I love Flashback. I love its so much that I asked Tom Kyzivat to base my Sega Addict chewable on the Mega Drive version’s title screen. So far I am totally in love with this new version of Flashback as shown in the exciting trailer above. So far it looks as though Paul Cuisset is sticking close to his and Delphine Software’s original vision, and isn’t veering the game towards a more “hardcore” market.
But that may just be the nostalgia talking. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!

RUMOR: Castle of Illusion coming to XBLA
Apr 9th
Remastered, and HD-upgraded re-releases are all the rage right now. There are also some great simple re-releases popping up here and there. Well, we may be able to add another classic to the list if the following rumor proves true. Recently, a Brazilian rating board website displayed some information regarding the Genesis game, Castle of Illusion Starring: Mickey Mouse possibly releasing on all the major consoles through their online marketplaces. And now, some boxart for the XBLA version of the game has surfaced. It’s interesting to note that the box art does not exactly mimic the original Genesis cover.
Previous re-releases of classic games have received digital box art identical to their original version, which leads some to believe that this re-release of Castle may be more than just a re-release and possibly some sort of revamp, or entire remake of the game. With the recent of announcement of DuckTales Remastered, I would not be surprised if any or all of these rumors came true.

The recent XBLA sale worked like gangbusters for Sega
Mar 17th
After months of seeing Sonic Adventure 2 swim around in the pleasant yet lonely waters of success, Major Nelson’s most recent Top 20 XBLA chart has introduced a wealth of new Sega guests to the pool.
Thanks to the recent XBLA sale, which was riddled with discounts for great Sega games, no less than six titles from the publisher managed to make it onto the countdown, most of them making it all the way to the top ten. Among them were Sonic the Fighters at #4, Virtua Fighter 2 at #6, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown at #7, Fighting Vipers at #8, NiGHTS into dreams at #11, and of course Sonic Adventure 2, which was not on sale, at #14.
Obviously this news is a bit tampered by the fact that it was spurred on by a sale, but nonetheless, it’s immensely satisfying to finally see the visually overhauled NiGHTS and the underplayed fighting gem Fighting Vipers getting a little bit of recognition on the charts.

Fan petition asks for “an HD remastering of Jet Set Radio Future”
Mar 15th
The HD re-release of Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio was a pretty successful venture for Sega and got fair reviews across the board, even from our own Brett Hatfield. If anything it reminded gamers of how innovative Sega were and could potentially be in the future. Speaking of the future, a group of JSR fans have organised a petition hoping to persuade Sega into re-releasing the Xbox exclusive Jet Set Radio Future.
Claiming the game to ‘even’ better’ than the original with ‘tighter controls, cooler music, a large, open world that encouraged exploration, and tons of replay-ability’. In their words:
We request an HD remastering of Jet Set Radio Future, with any issues the plagued the original Xbox version removed completely. We would like to see it on XBLA, PSN,(both PS3 and Vita systems), and Steam. Cross-buy compatibility for the PS3 and Vita versions would also be nice.
Whether or not Sega will take any notice of the petition, which at the time of writing has 89 signatures with a goal of 1,000, is one thing, but whether JSRF is deserving of a remake is another. In my personal opinion JSRF is a game that is visually and sonically astounding, but offers a very cumbersome and tedious gameplay experience. But who knows, the power of social media might see Hatsune Miku make it to the West, and it might very well see you playing JSRF on your PlayStation Vita some time in the future.
Future, future, future. The word’s lost all meaning.

Darkstalkers Resurrection now available on PSN
Mar 13th
Scheduled for release in early March on both Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade after initially being delayed, Darkstalkers Resurrection has now been released on PSN. Developed by Iron Galaxy Studios, the team behind fantastic digital releases Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, Resurrection follows the latter in providing enhanced versions of two classic fighters.
Night Warriors: Darkstalker’s Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 both had success at the arcades but also featured on the Sega Saturn. While the third game in the series has been widely available on different formats, Night Warriors (the series’ first sequel) has been unavailable on home consoles outside of Japan since the Saturn release. Resurrection promises online tournaments, a proven online netcode, HD filtering, YouTube sharing and even a tutorial for new players.
Anyone else excited for this? I’m a bit soppy for digital fighter re-releases myself, but you can check out some trailers here if you’re not sold.

Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown are 60% off this week
Mar 3rd
The Virtua Fighter franchise has seen several sizable discounts on XBLA in the past, but if you somehow managed to miss out on all of those deals, here’s another chance to get in on some digital fisticuffs for a measly couple of bucks.
From March 5th through March 11th, the most recent entry in the series, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, will be available for just 400 MSP (67% off), while the recent release of the Model 2 classic Virtua Fighter 2 will be on sale for 160 MSP (60% off). See? Chump change.
From everything I’ve heard, both of these games are a technical fighting fan’s dream. If you need convincing, check out Brett’s glowing review.
Anyone planning on snagging either of these deals?
